Chasing the past.
(poster referenced X )
I didn’t mean to shoot you
but I have to.
Jack Rollins/Brock Rumlow
I AM DOING BOTH
- big spoon/little spoon:
Brock thinks he’s a big spoon. Every night he wraps around Jack, who is very content to let him, and every morning they wake up with their places reversed. Brock is very confused as to how this keeps happening.
- favorite non-sexual activity:
You know I want to say shooting shit? But I feel like their favourite thing to do together is spar and then crash on the couch and watch netflix. They’re actually pathetically boring and domestic. People ask if they want to go on double dates and they just want to
cuddlelie around on the couch.
- who uses all the hot water:
Jack. Brock grew up in a more militaristic household and jumped right into the military after high school and right into SHIELD/HYDRA after the military. He’s never learned leisure. Jack, however, is of the opinion that life is short, especially theirs, and he wants to enjoy things while can. He loves to force Brock to slow things down and really experience the pleasure of the little things in life. Like long showers.
- most trivial thing they fight over:
Brock drinks milk straight from the carton and Jack thinks it’s fucking disgusting. (“You’ll put your tongue in my ass but I can’t drink out of my own fucking milk?”) He also forgets to put shit on the grocery list. (Yes they have a grocery list)
- who does most of the cleaning:
Not really an issue for either of them? Military standards, boys.
- what has a season pass on their dvr/who controls the netflix queue:
Sons of Anarchy. They both have a thing for wild biker pieces of shit. (They totally fight over who is Team Tara (Jack) and who is Team Gemma (Brock) but they both agree that Jax sucks. They tried to get Steve to watch, thinking you know. Bikers. But he just got agitated that the protagonists were “bad guys.” Jack definitely has a better taste in media in general, so he controls the netflix more often. (Brock, however, has impeccable taste in disney movies, thanks to his nieces.)
- who calls up the super/landlord when the heat’s not working:
They’d just fix it themselves. If they can’t, they figure out which rookie can and force him to do it under the guise of “extra training.” (Brock calls it an abuse of power, Jack calls it “I’m not letting you stick your fucking ice feet on me again and we’re getting the heat fixed dammit.”)
- who steals the blankets:
BROCK. Brock is also more likely to steal all of the blankets and then throw them off onto the ground (on his side of course) and just use Jack as a space heater. Jack has contemplated shoving him off the bed a few times.
- who leaves their stuff around:
Neither of them really do. Jack’s a stress cleaner, so when things go wrong you’ll find him on the floor with a toothbrush, scrubbing at the grout of the tiles. He usually bans Brock from the apartment for a few hours when he does it because Brock hovers and it makes him crazy.
- who remembers to buy the milk:
Definitely Jack. For all that Brock was in charge of taking care of his sister an was like hypervilgilant about running out of food when they were kids, he’s just honestly not very good at taking care of himself. He’s self-sufficient of course, but he needs to take care of others.
- who remembers anniversaries:
They don’t do anniversaries. Anniversaries are terrifying. They just mean “hey we haven’t died yet” and the thought of not making it to the next one is scary? So they do special things for each other on random days.
- who cooks normally?:
They trade off cooking/buying takeout. Jack is a better cook though. It’s not that Brock can’t, it’s just that he’s more accustomed to making cheap and easy things like boxed mac and cheese and fish sticks from his childhood. He’s been living off of MREs more than real food his whole life anyway.
- how often do they fight?:
It’s pretty rare that they really fight. Yeah they snip at each other sometimes, and Jack has a problem with how much Brock drinks sometimes and with the physical fights he picks when he’s upset and needs to slam or be slammed into the mats. But they click really well and with their jobs, it’s really not worth it. If they fought and then one of them died it would just. Break them.
- what do they do when they’re away from each other?:
Being that they’re on STRIKE Team One together and they live together, it’s not often that they’re apart. Brock hasn’t told his sister (she totally knows) about his relationship (Jack won’t push for it because he knows Brock is scared she’ll write him off and he’ll lose her and the girls) so he usually visits them alone. Jack’s family is the one who knows and pinches their cheeks and asks when they’re getting married and oh god it’s embarrassing. But they do need time alone sometimes. Brock gets along better with Steve and sometimes they go out together. Jack has more hobbies (photography, but you can’t tell Brock because he totally takes pictures of Brock while he’s sleeping) that let him get away sometimes.
- nicknames for each other?:
Jack is a dick and calls Brock “lil bit” and “short stuff” and “head rest” and things like that and Brock really just sticks the generic “baby” and “sweetheart”
- who is more likely to pay for dinner?:
Like I said, I think they trade off pretty equally but Jack really likes to randomly treat Brock out for something small like ice cream or coffee. No one’s ever really treated Brock right, you know, and he likes being the first.
- who steals the covers at night?:
Already Answered Above
- what would they get each other for gifts?:
They’re into more practical things and they’re not huge gift-givers. But every once in awhile Jack will leave an old record Brock’s been looking for for ages on his bedside table or Brock will hide a first edition novel in Jack’s locker and they both peek around the corner for the other’s reaction.
- who kissed who first?:
THIS WHOLE THING STARTED BECAUSE BROCK IS A HANDSY DRUNK. Back when they were new and everyone went out together, before Brock realized just how much of a fucking lightweight he was and stopped drinking so much with the boys, they went out. Brock had like 2 fucking shots and was w a s t e d. He climbed into Jack’s lap and kissed him. They have never lived it down. Jack dragged him home and threw him on the couch and made him keep his fucking hands to himself.
- who made the first move?:
OTHER THAN THAT NIGHT, it was Jack who actually made the first move. A few days later when Brock was suitably ashamed of himself, he hung around Jack like a kicked puppy because his best friend was mad at him. But Jack just wanted to know if he meant it and once he realized Brock was dead serious about him, he shoved Brock against a wall and kissed him and oops sex in the office happened.
- who remembers things?:
What do you mean by tHINGS? I mean they’re both high level agents, I feel like they’re good at remembering shit? (“Except putting goddamned milk on the list, Brock!” “How many times do I have to apologize?” “I DON’T WANT AN APOLOGY I WANT YOU TO PUT MILK ON THE LIST WHEN YOU DRINK IT ALL.” (Don’t think Brock didn’t buy 12 gallons of milk after this ok. He fucking filled the fridge with milk. You should have seen Jack’s face.
- who started the relationship?:
Brock is emotionally stunted. It was definitely not him. I think he wanted it, but never knew how to ask for it? I think Brock, for being a loudmouth piece of shit, is mostly bravado when it comes to matters of the heart. His mom leaving him and his first serious girlfriend sending him a Dear John letter.. it really fucked with his view on love. So he was always thinking it meant more to him than it did to Jack and that pushing the issue would only drive him away. (Jack was literally just waiting for Brock to pull his head of his ass.)
- who cusses more?:
Hahahahahahahah fucking Brock. Brock never ever swears around the girls, even when he hurts himself accidentally or drops something but jesus christ can he turn the air blue. He’s also vulgar as fuck.
- what would they do if the other one was hurt?:
Kill the thing that hurt them? And then afterward having a fucking meltdown. If Jack gets hurt, Brock doesn’t let himself panic until he’s had his revenge and then he just kind of loses it. Full on panic attack. Violence. When Brock is the one hurt, Jack quietly and quickly arranges for that person to be killed, then sits at Brock’s side an doesn’t move, sleep, or eat, until Brock is better.
I’ll try not to be gone for too long…
